Artisan Office, New York NY

Artisan’s narrow floor plan constraints were negotiated through sectional changes. To counteract the lack of natural light, the offices protrude from the yellow spine wall, allowing daylight into the lowered ceilings.

At night, fixtures along the top of the spine simulate daylight by reflecting light from the ceiling and down through the translucent ceilings of the offices.

The space is a combination of reflections from the glass strip windows, the aluminum surfaces, and the layers of full height glass walls. The aluminum panels, manufactured as concrete formwork, mark the edge of the office bar and reflect light to minimize the narrowness of the corridor.
